How To Grow Big Buds With These Great Inexpensive 150 Watt HPS Flood Lights

By Phil The Gain

I was asked to build a grow cabinet for one of my MMJ patients and I was looking for some HID floodlights and I came across the best deal that I have EVER seen on them.

At the price for the 150 watt models I had to snatch up 6 of 'em so I could upgrade my own indoor grow area and also have some extra lights for future ideas. The ballast is built into the units which is a plus for me. These little HPS floodlights produce big results on the cheap. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get those fat frosty legal medical buds. This is a method that a fellow legal medical marijuana card holder that I know had originally tried firsthand and let me tell you, his grows with these were easily the best harvests I had ever seen, as far as cabinet grows go. I have since surpassed his mighty harvests might I add.

Why didn't I think of that before?

When I saw the results I had to try to duplicate his success so I begun my quest. Luckily the local hardware store had a going out of business clearance sale on and I saw these HPS security lights and I picked up two 150w lights for $70 each plus tax. One light would be sufficient for a 2 plant stealth cabinet grow. What I loved was the fact that they shined at an angle (the angle is adjustable) when mounted (comes with the mount and screws) to the cabinet wall. The light produced by these lights easily covers the tops and sides of your precious plants. Needless to say I am extremely pleased with the yield of my grows and with each one being better than the previous cycle.

Anyone can do it.

You will have to do some basic beginner wiring by splicing an extension cord and joining it to the wiring of the floodlight which i found was a breeze. It Only took me about 10-15 minutes.

In the winter time there was really no need to have an exhaust for the heat as this was not even needed. The cold weather is the best if you want to get some fat purple buds because when the lights are off it gets pretty chilly in there which tends to give the plants that much coveted purplish color tone. These HPS floodlights don't get super hot, which is a huge plus for the summer indoor growing season. Of course, there are many variations of growing styles and set-ups that you can use these bad boys for, so you can have a large harvest of those big frosty potent medical buds every time.

You DO NOT need or want 1000w lights for cabinet growing!

These are high pressure sodium floodlights and are the same spectrum as you will get from the more expensive lights that they rape you for at most grow shops. You can use these as your main lights or for bigger closets or rooms, you can use these in addition to bigger lighting which is something I haven't tried yet but I'm sure the results would be ridiculously good.

I hope this information has given my fellow growers some good ideas to use and maximize a limited area that you might have available for your grow. Please comment below if you have any additional insights or questions for me as I'll be glad to help. Feel free to post your grow info when you get your set up going.

Good luck and have a bountiful harvest.

Yeah, you don't want to have the light too close. All hps lights are hot and having them too close can be deadly. Adapt your grow cabinet or closet accordingly. I especially like these floodlights because they don't take up a lot of space. Good luck!
